USA – USSR: Heart to Heart in Pravda
Jan 31, 1990 | Print, St. Petersburg
The inspiration for Heart to Heart was “born” from a single surgery performed pro bono at Children’s Hospital in Oakland, CA on a Soviet child. To bring Maria and her mother from the Soviet Union to the U.S. required months of time and tens of thousands of dollars. After Maria’s successful surgery, Pravda ran several stories about Heart to Heart, spreading the news of American goodwill towards Soviet children. Here is one of those stories.
